At one time or another her two children and two bonus-children have attended various schools in Lafayette, Orinda and Moraga. Husband Peter opened a family-friendly Italian restaurant, Piccolo Napoli, in Orinda's Theatre Square specializing in Neapolitan thin-crust pizza, pasta, salads and Napoli family recipes from 2013-2019, and now is President of Castle Funds, a crypto-currency and derivatives fund. Maria's parents and two siblings live in Rossmoor, the premier, active adult community in the Bay Area.
